Heniek TENNER / Warszawa or Lodz, Poland KOORDYNACJA Print E-mail

henykSurname:TENNER  During the war  SANDER
Name:HENOCH During the war  WALDEMAR  "WALDECK"
Birth Date:1936 (?)
Birth Place:
Warszawa, Poland?

Lodz, Poland?

Father's Name:(Israel ?)
Mother's Name:(Miriam ?)

GENOVEVA SANDER SAVED HENIEK
Heniek was saved by a woman named Genoveva Sander and lived with her in Lodz under the name of Waldemar "Waldeck" Sander.

There is an Arolsen Archives card at Yad Va'shem which states that Heniek was born in Warszawa.
On the other hand, the "Koordinacja" card at the Beit Lochamei Ha'geta'ot Archives states that he was born in Lodz.
The birth date  and birth place listed on the "Koordinacja"  card is NOT correct according to the Ministry of the Interior in Lodz.

QUESTION
Where and when was Heniek born?

RESEARCH JOURNAL JUNE 2005

JEWISH FAMILIES NAMED TENNER
Information about any Jewish Tenner families is requested.

Checking 'Tenner" on JRI-Poland, nearly all Tenner , with this spelling, come from Galicia.

Did Heniek's family originally come from Galicia?

GENOVEVA SANDER / ZANDER WHO SAVED HENIEK

According to the Koordinacja index card ,Genoveva Sander belonged to the Evangelic church.

As a guess, she may have been of German descent, though Sander can also be a Jewish family name.
If she stayed in Lodz after the war, she would probably, when the day came, be buried at an Evangelic Cemetery in Lodz. If there are several Evangelic cemeteries, we need to check the one closest to ul. Zieromskiego in Lodz, where she lived

How should we go about to find the grave of  Genoveva  Sander / Zander?

RESEARCH JOURNAL SEPTEMBER 2005

TENNER FAMILIES IN THE WARSZAWA TELEPHONE CATALOGUE FOR 1938/1939
Thanks to Logan Kleinwaks' search engine   http://www.kalter.org/search.php we were able to find two Tenner in the 1938/1939 telephone register for Warszawa:
TENNER Jan , dr., ul. Warecka 9
TENNER Roman, dr. praw. adw. ul Barbary 1

The next step could be to locate the names of the neighbours living on those two addresses, again using Logan Kleinwaks's search engine. Any volunteers?

Living at ul. Warecka 9 in Warszawa in 1938/1939
TENNER Jan, dr.

Living at ul. Barbary 1 in Warszawa in 1938/1939
TENNER Roman, dr. praw. adw.

IF THE TENNER FAMILY LIVED IN WARSZAWA, DID GENOVEVA SANDER ALSO LIVE THERE BEFORE THE WAR?
The following Sander persons are listed in the 1938/1939 Warszawa telephone register:
SANDER Heiman, m. , ul. Hosa 62
SANDER Jerzy, mgr. fil., ul Leszno 59
SANDER Ludwik, m., ul. Kruczna 7
SANDER Ludwik, urzad Banku Pol., ul Narbutta 17
SANDER S. , mag. farm., m., ul. Zlota 25

Using a slightly different spelling :
ZANDER H. , skl. artyk. elektrotechn., ul  Zlota 24
ZANDER H. , m., ul. Polna 66
ZANDER Recha, m., ul. Wilcza 29a

THE KOORDINACJA CARD AT BETH LOCHAMEI HAGHETTAOT
Heniek's card at Beth Lochamei Haghettaot says his parents were Israel and Miriam. Looking closer at the original card, one sees that the father's name is written in the original entry with "Mother unknown" next to it. Later, in a different handwriting the name Miriam has been added.
At some point in afterwar Poland, the Polish authorities gave instructions that the children who did not have all the basic names of their identity ( family name, first name, year of birth, parents' name) should be given such in order to enable any orderly registration of these children in the future. My guess is that Miriam was added to fullfill this regulation. It will be interesting to see if we in the future will be able to verify this.
