ZEUTA’S STORY
Zeuta’s mother Salomea was born in Lviv around 1905 -1910 as the daughter of Izrael Hersch Kessler and Toni Taube Kessler nee Katz.

Zeuta’s father came to Lviv to study medicine. He finished his studies around 1928.
Zeuta’s parents probably married some time between 1928 – 1935 in Lviv.
Zeuta’s father is listed in the 1935 Lwow / Lviv telephone catalogue as Dr. Salomon Ringler, dr., lek. chor. wewn., living in ul. Domsa 14.
Around March 1939 Salomea Ringler gave birth to her daughter Zeuta.

In September 1939 Poland was attacked by the German Army and for some weeks there was fighting also around Lviv, though after the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement, the Germans retreated and the Soviets started to rule Lviv and the surrounding area.
In the end of June 1941 the Germans attacked once more and this time the occupied Lviv and stayed there for the next few years.
According to what Zeuta has been told, her father disappeared at the beginning of the German occupation and when her mother went to search for him, she also disappeared. This happened in July or August 1941 in Lviv.

From then on Zeuta lived with her maternal aunt Ewa Alles nee Kessler and Ewa’s husband Dr. Zygmunt Alles.
When the Germans came to take her uncle and aunt from their apartment , her aunt saved Zeuta by giving her to a Polish neighbor. This may have happened in 1942 (?).

MEDICAL DOCTORS IN THE FAMILY
As already told, Zeuta’s mother Salomea Kessler had married a medical doctor, Dr. Salomon Ringler.
Salomea’s sister Ewa Kessler had also married a MD, namely Dr. Zygmunt Alles. This family lived in ul. Grodecka 11 in 1935.
Salomea’s brother was Dr. Oskar Kessler. In 1935 Dr. Kessler lived in ul. Lyczakowska 34 in Lviv and was married to Tosia nee Fleck.
Salomea Kessler had an additional brother named Emil Kessler who emigrated long before the war to France. He survived the Holocaust but could not tell very much about the family to his niece Zeuta when they finally met each other.
Salomea Kessler also had a younger sister named Roza Kessler who probably was blind from a childhood accident.

ZEUTA’S HOPES:
To get copies of her parents’ birth certificates
To get copies of her parents’ marriage certificate.
To obtain photos of her parents.

RESEARCH JOURNAL JUNE 2005
PHOTOS OF ZEUTA’S FATHER
How is it possible to obtain photographs of those who graduated from the medical department of the university in Lviv in the 1920’s and 1930’s?

Could a picture of him exist in any local register of medical doctors in Lviv or in a national register of MDs in Krakow or Warszawa? Where can such registers be located?
Could he be registered as a medical doctor in the Polish army with a photo in the army archives?
Has anybody been able to do researches in the army archives for similiar information?

THE FATE OF ZEUTA’S PARENTS
A list of burials in Lviv for July and August 1941 located at Yad Vashem, did not include Zeuta’s parents. Will it be possible to find any information about the fate of her parents during the summer of 1941 in Lviv?

PAGES OF TESTIMONY
Zeuta’s uncle Emil Kessler wrote Pages of Testimony at Yad Vashem for her grandparents, her uncles and aunts Kessler and Alles, but NOT for Zeuta’s parents and NOT for her blind aunt Roza Kessler. Why?

THE RINGLER FAMILY
Zeuta wants very much to find information about her Ringler relatives.

According to JRI-Poland http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/ Izrael Hersch Kessler r Bob and his wife Taube Katz had a baby son named Arnold Matheusz Kessler in the year 1894. What happened to him?
In 1895 the couple had a son named Oskar. This is Dr. Oskar Kessler, already mentioned. It is written that Izrael Hersch Kessler orinally came from Jaroslaw.
In 1897 the couple had a daughter named Roza and it is noted that the father came from Yavorow.
